One of the Society's stated purposes is to inspect and register Irish Draught and Irish Sport Horses. These horses are then placed in the Online Pedigree Database.

All horses, meeting the Society’s basic requirement of:
verifiable Registered Irish Draught (RID) blood, are eligible for ISH Registration
Verifiable RID Blood
* Progeny of failed Irish Draught Stallions that were born prior to 2015, ARE eligible to be ISH pedigree registered.
Fillies, mares and geldings by the progeny of failed Irish Draught Stallions ARE eligible to be registered.
Colts by the progeny of failed Irish Draught Stallions are ineligible to be ISH pedigree registered.

Verifiable RID Blood
- Geldings and Fillies / Mares - a minimum of 1/8th (12.5% or greater) verifiable RID blood for ISH registration
- Colts and Stallions to stand at stud with the Society: a minimum of 1/4 (25% or greater) verifiable RID blood for ISH registration. This does not affect currently registered stallions but it may affect their progeny
- Mares 3 and over eligible for Studbook Inspection - a minimum of 1/2 (50%) verifiable RID blood and 1/2 (50%) verifiable ASB TB blood
- Stallions eligible for Studbook Inspection - Both and Sire and Dam must have 100% verifiable RID blood
